Traits of Films By Jamie Paxton Candidate Number 5955

Traits in movies that will be similar to my trailer
21/09/10

Traits I hope to imitate in my trailer is the portrayal of initial equilibrium in the storyline through the use of quite music, mise-en-scene, good actors portraying themselves as happy.
The use of the voiceover technique is also useful because it creates an element of suspense but also the use of tone of voice is important because it can portray a sense of things to come.

A useful element that can portray the beginning of disequilibrium is an element, which is also in ‘Taken’ with Liam Neeson, it is the sounding of a single bell toll quietly in the background.
The ‘Taken’ trailer also uses a sudden burst of noise and movement after a few seconds of quiet on the trailer, this helps portray both action and drama. The trailer uses quiet piano music rather than rock music which might be considered conventional in a film like this, the break of convention is good at setting apart ‘Taken’ from other films of its genre.
However it makes use of the montage technique, at an incredibly fast editing pace, furthering the feeling of suspense.

The Clash of the Titans Trailer for the 2010 Film was an admirable piece of work, it used barely any text whether audio or visual in order to portray the storyline or what the film was about, there is three uses of titles during the trailer in which they portray the three words Titans will clash, which is basically to give the film away, there is also one use of audio work which is Pete Posalwaithe’s character in the film making the defiant statement that one day somebody will have to say enough. The trailer tries to sell itself on the fast editing, the admittedly very catchy tune, and also the millions of shots and their mise-en-scene which are put there by the directors in the hope that it will tell the audience everything they need to know about the film.
