The Art Of The Title: Crank 2 By Jamie Paxton Candidate Number 5955

I am taking my nine key shots from the trailer of a film called Crank 2 High Voltage; starring Jason Statham. It uses some interesting editing and camera techniques the whole way through, making me consider Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor to be the American equivalents of Guy Ritchie.

1) The first shot, introduces, Jason Statham as the protagonist, Chev Chelios, it is important that the audience are introduced to the main character so that they will either go and see the film for the actor, or in this movies case because they want to find out what happened after the last film where we are led to believe that Chev probably died.
2) This second shot is important, a long shot of Chev and another man falling out of a plane, the shot is important because it shows that Chev is tough, because he is shown from the beginning to be falling out of a helicopter and crash landing on a car, that her survived implies to us immediately that he is tough, and also that we will want to watch the rest of the film and find out what happens to him.
3) The title shot is important because it gives the audience all of the information about the upcoming film and also can tell them when it will be coming out.
4) This shot of an overview of a city is important because it gives the audience a certain idea of what sort of environment the film will be taking place in, which may seem mad but might affect some people’s decisions about whether or not they watch the film.
5) This shot is important because it appears to have been shot in an actual house which Jason Statham is being dragged out of and this also tells you whether or not the film is high budget. The trailer also lingers on this scene for a few moments implying that it is in fact designed to focus our attention on this scene.
6) Captions are an effective way of keeping an audience’s attention focused, because it is easier for them to read captions than to listen to whatever is being said in a voiceover as well as the rest of the trailer music and sound.
7) Here is an example of image overlay used in trailer, this enables more of the story to be conveyed at the same time
8) The Image of this location is clear, making it seem that the image is real instead of what it probably really is which is CGI
9) The final scene is a spark effect, where it seems that Chev is grabbing the electricity box making it spark like that, whereas in fact it is probably just a special effects item which is designed to shoot sparks out of the side like that.
