Best 9 key screen shots from a film trailer
I took 9 key screen shots from a film trailer called “The Expendables”. This is because I got inspired by watching this film trailer, and also it has given me some ideas which I can then use for our action trailer.
1. The first image shows one of the main characters, and in any trailer it is really important to introduce a character or all if possible. This is so the audience can get familiar with them is and will be able to understand the storyline or the concept of a trailer more easily.
2. This image shows a high angle shot focusing of a bag full of cash. But what’s different about it is that this image is in black and white, this is to get the audiences full attention on this particular image, when watching the trailer, this image is first in colour, it then flashes into black and white to give a “pay attention” effect to the audience.
3. “The Expendables” title name is a key element that is definitely needed. This is so the audience knows that the name of the film. It is more effective if you put the title name at the end of the trailer. This is so the audience can watch the full footage of the trailer before deciding if it’s going to be a good film or not by seeing the title name of the trailer.
4. In this image you see a group of gang on their bikes, before explains the key moments of a story, you must include a location, otherwise the audience can get confused and may not like the film trailer.
5. By looking at this image you can tell if this movie is a high budget movie or a low budget movie, by looking at this miser- en scene you can see that this location is an actual place and not shot in a studio. It’s also uses a full range shot, which shows you the whole front of the location and not just a section of the location.
6. Captions are another way which you can tell a story of a trailer, instead of using a voice over narrator. This keeps the audience focused and they tend to concentrate more rather than just hearing a voice over.
7. Here you see an animation which shows some actions scenes with captions on top, it’s one of the new styles to attract the audience, and it also looks really professional.
8. Here you see an image of a location. What make this location really clear and powerful is the lighting effects, if there were less lights then this would make it look really dull and boring, as you can see that there are over 10 high range flood lights focusing onto the location itself. This makes it more interesting for the audience.
9. And finally in this image you see the special effect used. The muzzle effect when a character fires a gun. This could be really useful, as it makes it look more realistic action happening in a scene.
